Why It's Important?

The detection of West Nile virus poses a public health concern, particularly for older adults and individuals with compromised immune systems, who are at greater risk of severe illness. While no human cases have been reported so far, the presence of the virus highlights the need for vigilance as mosquito activity increases with the onset of summer. Residents are urged to take preventive measures to reduce mosquito breeding and protect themselves from bites, as community involvement is critical in controlling the spread of the virus.
